He was born in Çanakkale, 1972. In1992, he entered the Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory, majoring in Folk Dancing. A year later, he moved on to Ege University Turkish Music State Conservatory Liberal Arts Department. He graduated in 1998.
As a ney player, he has worked at the TRT (Turkish Radio Television) Izmir Radio station (1996-2000) and the TRT Ankara Radio station (2000-2005) where he performed in numerous radio and TV broadcasts. He has also worked as a studio musician, recording with various artists. He gave flamenko, jazz and new age concerts in national and international festivals.
He has performed concerts as a ney soloist with Turkey’s major orchestras and conductors, starting with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra. Among those with whom he shared the stage are Bobby McFerrin, Maria Farantouri, Zülfü Livaneli, Yıldız İbrahimova, Seda Bağcan, Serenad Bağcan, Senem Diyici, Yves Rousseau, Joaquin Grilo, David Perez, Carlos Denia and Antonia Serrano. He gave workshops on Turkish music and microtonality at the Berkeley Jazz School, The Rotterdam Conservatory and University of Edinburgh. He has also performed at the presence of H.M.S. Elizabeth II Queen of England and over 60 heads of state.
He has two albums with the band Tanini. He continues to give concerts in many parts of the world.
